The Boston Globe reports that Dewdney, who was best-known as the author and illustrator of the Llama Llama series, passed away in September 2016. Viking Books for Young Readers will posthumously publish Little Excavator in June 2017.
Here’s more from The Wall Street Journal: “The new book follows the Little Excavator truck as it approaches a construction site, eager to help the Big Rigs dig up ground and load dirt. The Big Rigs finally find a job for him to do. Dewdney had the idea for Little Excavator while restoring a Vermont home built in 1820.”
