By Maryann Yin

Christopher Bell, a children’s books author and a media studies professor, gave a talk at TEDxColoradoSprings 2015. He spoke about “the importance of female superheroes.”

During his talk, Bell made references to comic superheroes, Game of Thrones, and Star Wars. We’ve embedded the full presentation in the video above—what do you think?

Other authors who have spoken on the TED stage in the past include Newbery Medalist Linda Sue Park, young adult novelist John Green, and Big Magic author Elizabeth Gilbert. Which writers would you like to hear from at future TED conferences?
