By Maryann Yin

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (GalleyCat)Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has written a new essay for The New Yorker called “Now is The Time to Talk About What We Are Actually Talking About.” In this piece, Adichie points out some of the actions that can be taken in light of the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. Here’s an excerpt:

“Now is the time to resist the slightest extension in the boundaries of what is right and just. Now is the time to speak up and to wear as a badge of honor the opprobrium of bigots. Now is the time to confront the weak core at the heart of America’s addiction to optimism; it allows too little room for resilience, and too much for fragility.”

In light of Donald Trump’s win, Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison, journalist Virginia Hefferman, and Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence have also written essays. Several authors have shared reactions to this new political development with posts on their blogs and social media pages. How do you feel about the results of the recent presidential race?
