Children’s Book Council & We Need Diverse Books Team on Internship Program

The Children’s Book Council (CBC) has partnered with the nonprofit We Need Diverse Books (WNDB) to support the WNDB Internship Program, which launches this summer.

The CBS will help provide educational resources to help interns from diverse backgrounds find jobs in the children’s book publishing industry. The organization will host a luncheon with the CBC Diversity Committee, in order to introduce the interns to children’s book editors and publicists at top publishing houses. In addition, the CBC will include the interns in the CBC’s Early Career Committee’s summer event and invite them to the CBC Forum and the CBC Diversity Panel. They’ll also provide tip sheets for getting jobs in the publishing industry.

“The Children’s Book Council has been a dedicated champion of diverse books and voices since the launch of the CBC Diversity Initiative in 2012,” stated CBC Executive Director Jon Colman. “We are excited to team up with WNDB to further the work of creating an inclusive and representative children’s book publishing industry.”
