By Maryann Yin

Kite Runner Card (GalleyCat)The Chapel Hill Public Library has been celebrating Banned Books Week with a special set of trading cards. This year’s cards honor H. G. Wells’ The Invisible Man, John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath, Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita, William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner, William Faulkner’s As I Lay Dying, and Maya Angelou’s I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.

Every year, this institution asks local artists to create original designs for this special program. This year, hundreds of submissions were sent in. Click on this link to see the pieces that make up the 2014 card set.

Here’s more from the Friends of the Chapel Hill Public Library blog post: “The Library gives away one card each day beginning on Sunday, September 27th. Come each day to CHPL, Flyleaf Books, or Libraries on campus at UNC Chapel Hill to get the day’s card. By the end of the week, you’ll have the whole set! If you miss a day, just come in and ask for the one you missed. But hurry – they’re only free during Banned Books Week!”
