Carol Ann Duffy (GalleyCat)How do you react to tragedy? The Guardian reports that Britain’s Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy (pictured, via) has written a tribute poem called “After Orlando: Gay Love” to honor the victims of the Pulse nightclub attack.

Duffy’s 19-line piece has incited controversy. According to The Telegraph, “it was mocked by some commentators on the internet and angered traditionalist Christians.” Here’s an excerpt:

The actress is gay,
spotlit in the smash-hit play;
the butcher, the baker, the candlestick-maker,
our children, are gay.
And God is gay.
