Carl Lennertz Now Executive Director at CBC

Carl-Lennertz-high-res_1693The Children’s Book Council has appointed Carl Lennertz as its new executive director.

Lennertz is a book industry veteran. He was recently executive director of World Book Night. He is also the creator of the Book Sense (now IndieBound) Children’s and Adult Bestseller and Indie Next lists at the American Booksellers Association.

In his new role, Lennertz will be in charge of expanding the group’s educational programming for members of the children’s publishing industry, along with developing both national and local literacy-based community programs.

He will also head up existing events, campaigns, and programs including: Children’s Book Weekthe Children’s Choice Book Awards, and the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature Program.
