Bud Selig Hires Agent to Sell Memoir

Commissioner-Selig-HeadshotFormer Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig has hired Sandy Montag of IMG to help him sell his book.

The book will be a memoir about Selig’s life and his notorious role in professional baseball. Selig had considered not using an agent, but after speaking with other authors determined that he should.

BizJournals has the scoop:

“A year ago, the idea of hiring an agent would be kind of stunning,” said Selig, who retired as commissioner in January after 22 years and serves as commissioner emeritus of baseball. He has begun working on an outline for a book…“But the more I got into the book and talking to people who had written books and talking to publishers, I wanted someone to represent me,” he said.

“We’re excited to work with Bud as he enters the next chapter of his career,” explained Montag in a statement. “He has been such an influential figure in baseball for more than 40 years and we look forward to helping Bud explore both literary and speaking opportunities.”
