Bob Dylan Writes Nobel Acceptance Speech

By Dianna Dilworth

Bob Dylan might not be showing up for the Nobel Prize Ceremony this weekend, but he has written an acceptance speech.

The thank you speech will be read at the event, but it’s not yet clear who will read it. In addition, Patti Smith will perform Dylan’s “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” earlier that day according to a report in AP.

The Swedish Academy didn’t hear from Dylan for almost a week after they announced that he had won the award. When they finally did hear from him, he said that “pre-existing commitments” would prevent him from traveling to Stockholm for the event.
