Bob Dylan 200 (GalleyCat)The Swedish Academy has announced that Bob Dylan will not attend the Nobel Prize Ceremony. The organization revealed in a statement that Dylan’s “pre-existing commitments” will prevent him from traveling to Stockholm for this event.

Here’s more from CNN: “The organization added that there have been other Nobel laureates in the past who were unable to attend the ceremony — and the prize is still awarded. The only requirement is that Dylan present a Nobel Lecture within six months.”

Dylan was named the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature back in October 2016. According to a press release on NobelPrize.org, the famed musician and songwriter was recognized “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.” The award ceremony will take place in December 2016.
