Actor B.J. Novak has written his first book, a collection of short stories called One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories (Knopf).
The collection is Novak’s first project since The Office went off the air. Novak not only starred in the NBC comedy, but he also wrote and produced episodes. Novak workshopped the stories at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. He read the stories to live audiences to get a sense of what was working and what needed to work.
“I was so used to this regimen where scripts had deadlines and had to be filmed and Steve Carell is waiting for the new pages that I didn’t know what it would be like to just sit in a house with no one expecting anything from me and write something,” he told the Associated Press. “So I think scheduling those shows for me was a great bridge between being on ‘The Office’ and writing on my own.”
The book is currently No. 41 on Amazon’s bestsellers list for the books category and No. 7 in Humor books.
