Amazon has unveiled a new app that aims to get kids reading on their devices.
Amazon Rapids presents illustrated short stories in a chat format that tells stories one message at a time. Each story is revealed through the perspective of characters chatting with one another. Stories range from content about alien invasions to chickens crossing the street. The app includes a glossary to help kids with vocabulary words, as well as with pronunciation.
The app is available for Amazon Fire devices, as well as on iOS and Android. It costs $2.99 a month and comes with “hundreds of original stories, with dozens of new ones added monthly.”
