2010 Library Lions Announced

nypl.JPGThe New York Public Library has revealed teh 2010 Library Lions. The Library Lions Gala for this year’s honorees will be held on Monday, November 1st.

And the honorees are: author Malcolm Gladwell (Blink); actor, screenwriter, novelist Ethan Hawke (Ash Wednesday); New York Public Library President/CEO Paul LeClerc; actor and writer Steve Martin (Shopgirl); and novelist Zadie Smith (White Teeth).

The Library Lions is an honor bestowed yearly by the NYPL. The honorees are people who have made significant cultural and educational contributions in an effort to further the public’s understanding about the world. Past honorees include Martin Scorsese, Elie Wiesel, and Oprah Winfrey.

Library chairman Catharine Marron offered this quote : “The individuals we are honoring this November represent the very essence of distinction and imagination in their respective fields. The Library, along with our group of devoted Library Lions co-chairs, is proud to recognize their achievements as part of this year’s annual benefit.”
