Patrick Ness has signed on to write a Doctor Who spin-off for teens called Class. Ness announced the news on his Twitter page.
BBC News reports that the team behind this project intend to shoot eight 45-minute episodes. Ness (pictured, via) has become well-known as the young adult author behind the Chaos Walking trilogy. This show will mark his debut as a television screenwriter.

In 2013, he wrote a short story for the 50th anniversary celebrations of the show (part of a book called 11 Doctors, 11 Stories (later upgraded to 12 Doctors, 12 Stories when Peter Capaldi’s incarnation of The Doctor hit our screens).
