ESPN is not done swinging its axe. After a summer in which the company let two of its biggest names—Bill Simmons and Colin Cowherd—walk out the door, The Big Lead reports that ESPN is cutting between 200 and 300 staffers.
The reason, as always, is money. Disney, which owns ESPN, has ordered the sports media company to cut $100 million from next year’s budget and a whopping $250 million from 2017’s budget.
In a statement, an ESPN spokesperson offered little to deny the upcoming cuts.
“ESPN has historically embraced evolving technology to smartly navigate our business,” the rep told The Big Lead.
