Dow Jones Cuts More Than 40 Staffers

Bringing the total to roughly 90 so far this year.

Dow Jones has cut staffers in its Professional Information Business and circulation department. According to a union memo about the layoffs, there were also unconfirmed reports of Baron’s losing six editorial staffers.

The latest round of layoffs means Dow Jones—in this year alone—has cut 90 staffers represented by the Independent Association of Publishers’ Employees. Dow Jones cut a total of 48 union jobs in 2014, 51 in 2013, and 81 in 2012.

The news isn’t all bad. Despite the cuts, Dow Jones hires many union-reperesented staffers each year.
