Colin Cowherd to Leave ESPN

Another big name departs the company.

Colin Cowherd is leaving ESPN after more than a decade with the company. Cowherd has been with ESPN Radio since 2003.

The news comes mere months after ESPN decided not to extend Bill Simmons’ contract. It seems ESPN considers itself bigger than its names and is content letting popular talent walk.

“He came to national prominence on ESPN with his unique perspective on sports and society,” said ESPN president John Skipper, in a statement. “Endings also bring new beginnings, for ESPN and Colin, and we thank him and wish him the best.”

What’s next for Cowherd? The Big Lead reports that “talks are progressing” between Cowherd and Fox Sports.
