Grieve heads to McClatchy.

Tim Grieve is leaving National Journal for The McClatchy Company, where he will be head of news strategies, announced National Journal CEO Tim Hartman in a memo to staff.

Grieve served as the editor in chief and president of National Journal, where he supervised writers, reporters and editors as the publication sought to expand its national coverage. He also headed up the 2013 relaunch of NationalJournal.com and the redesign of the print publication.

Grieve’s departure does not come completely unexpectedly.
