Journal-isms Is Looking for a New Home After Maynard Institute Cuts Ties

Editor Richard Prince searches for a new funding stream.

Journal-isms editor Richard Prince announced today that his long-running column will no longer be supported by The Maynard Institute, which had housed Journal-isms for more than a decade.

“I’m disappointed, but I’m thankful to Dori Maynard, the late president of the Maynard Institute for Journalism Education, for the idea that resulted in an online version of ‘Journal-isms’ 13 1/2 years ago,” said Prince in a statement.

Prince is currently searching for a new home and funding stream for the influential column, which is a mix of commentary, reporting and links on, as described in the release, the “intersection of news media, race, society and newsroom diversity.”

The institute, for its part, is cutting ties with Prince because it wants to focus on other parts of its mission.
