John Dickerson to Succeed Schieffer as Host of 'Face the Nation'

“‘Face the Nation’ is going to be in good hands.”

CBS News political director John Dickerson will be taking the reins of “Face the Nation” this summer, announced retiring host Bob Schieffer on Sunday.

“‘Face the Nation’ is going to be in good hands,” said Schieffer. Dickerson, the son of the late Nancy Dickerson, has been on the show 83 times.

“Bob, I am honored and really excited,” Dickerson told Schieffer. “Mom would have been excited too.”

Fellow Sunday show host, Chuck Todd, sent out a congratulatory tweet to Dickerson on Sunday morning:
