Dori Maynard to Posthumously Receive McGruder Diversity Award

A "passionate warrior for diversity in journalism," remembered.

Though she passed away from lung cancer in February, the impact journalist and former Maynard Institute president Dori Maynard has had on the profession continues to reverberate. In October, Maynard will be honored posthumously with the Robert McGruder Award for Diversity Leadership. Awarded jointly by the Associated Press Media Editors and the American Society of News Editors, the annual award is given to honorees who have made significant work in promoting and increasing diversity in the newsroom.
