Cookies to Predict the Election? Politicians' Wives, Please.

Here's a kooky and potentially sexist way to predict who will win the presidential election come November: Take cookie recipes submitted by first lady Michelle Obama and wannabe first lady Ann Romney submitted to Family Circle magazine and see which people like better. With election night just eight weeks away, the Occidental Grill & Seafood, a mere two blocks from the White House, decided to do just that. At the end of each meal, diners are presented with both cookies. They submit their preference by secret ballot. The contest runs through the election. Week 1 has Obama in the lead. Michelle Obama chocolate chip cookies 57% Ann Romney M&M oatmeal cookies 40% Undecided 3% Obama’s White and Dark (wink! wink! to the racial overtones) Chocolate Chip Cookies are made of white chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips and mint chocolate chips. Romney’s recipe is an oatmeal cookie made with peanut butter, chocolate chips and M&M’s candies. We wondered what the Occidental's chef has to say about the cookie options as everyone knows that chocolate chip cookies are far superior to oatmeal and that frankly oatmeal and peanut butter mixed sounds about as appetizing as the tuna fish and pasta that Ann Romney never eats. But the chef wouldn't allude to f%@king anything. “We encourage supporters of all stripes—Rs and Ds, chocolate chip and M&Ms lovers—to make their voices heard. We aren’t taking sides in this cookie vote. The most important thing is to treasure our right to participate in a democratic vote now when it comes to cookies…and at the ballot box in November,” says Chef Rodney Scruggs, in what may be the most politically correct quote we've seen in weeks.
