Zynga Partners with Kate Hudson for FarmVille Recipe Book, In-Game Content

Taking a break from traditional gaming apps, Zynga has released the FarmVille to Table Recipe Book on iOS and Android devices. Created as a collaboration between FarmVille’s own players, Zynga’s executive chef Matthew DuTrumble, celebrities and food bloggers, the app brings recipes to users, inspired by the dishes players can create in FarmVille 2: Country Escape on mobile. According to Zynga, nearly 65 percent of FarmVille players have said they’d like to cook dishes in the real world that they’ve first discovered within the game. This app aims to help them do just that, and offers users recipes for everything from strawberry shortcake to deviled eggs, which have been available to create virtually within the mobile FarmVille experience. The app separates recipes into different categories, like pastries, lunches, dinners and more. Each recipe is listed alongside its author, number of serving sizes, time to prepare and actual ingredient list and recipe. Celebrities including actress Kate Hudson and The Food Network star Marc Murphy have contributed their own exclusive recipes to the app, like Hudson’s recipe for fig and burrata flatbread. Hudson’s contribution is particularly significant, as the star has also partnered with Zynga on a much larger event in FarmVille 2: Country Escape on mobile. To celebrate the season of harvest and Thanksgiving, players will meet Hudson as an animated character on their mobile farms, and can create recipes from Hudson Bellamy Wines (Hudson’s new wine collection) in order to earn bonus points during the game’s overall Fall Harvest Event. In this event, players are asked to craft and sell special recipes (as well as bulk resources like egg and carrots, as examples) to earn points for the Fall Harvest Feast. The more points they collect, the better the prizes available, including nails, coins, stamps and even a cat for the farm. These special recipes require equally special ingredients, like kale, which is available to find at key landmarks around the farm, including the Glade, Pond and Mine. Figs, meanwhile, are earned at random when harvesting peach trees. These special recipes are worth more points than traditional recipes or basic ingredients, so players are encouraged to craft and sell as many as possible, not only to complete associated quests, but also earn bonus points. “FarmVille 2: Country Escape is a fun and unique way to share our Hudson Bellamy Wines with a wide array of people. Our wines are small lot, so the rustic, community environment in the game fits right in with our values of making a sustainable, local product,” said Hudson, in a statement. “Along with making Hudson Bellamy Wine, you can make your own real-world version of my go-to fall recipe, Fig & Burrata Flatbread, in the FarmVille to Table Recipe Book. Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year to cook, and I hope the recipe inspires everyone to make the most of the season’s delicious, natural ingredients.” The Fall Harvest Feast event in FarmVille 2: Country Escape, complete with Kate Hudson’s animated in-game appearance, will run through November 23. Meanwhile, the FarmVille to Table Recipe Book is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store and Google Play, with a Windows version coming soon.
