Zuma Blitz Comes To Facebook

PopCap Games, one of the most popular gaming developers on Facebook, today launched Zuma Blitz on the social network.

The game company’s first Facebook release, Bejeweled Blitz, currently has about 11.8 million monthly active users and 4.1 million on an average day, with a total of 40 million users overall. The game ranks as the number eight in terms of daily growth in users, but places lower on a weekly and monthly basis.

Apparently, PopCap spent over a year developing Zuma Blitz, which GamaSutra calls an unusually long time, as most others in this market code for a few months and then launch a beta version.

Anyway, Zuma Blitz is a one-minute version of the company’s Zuma. As PopCap describes it on the game’s Facebook page:

Blast balls from your fearless frog, race the clock, and destroy chains before you’re devoured by the golden skull. Work your Mojo to gain XP, unlock power-ups, and leap up the leaderboard!

I noticed that three of my friends are already hooked on the game. Based on the amount of time that Bejeweled has been known to suck out of people’s lives, I hesitate to try Zuma Blitz during work hours.

Perhaps you’ve already tried the game or know someone who has. What do you think of it, or what have you heard from people who’ve played it? Do you have experience playing Zuma that gives you expectations for the Facebook version? Please let us know.
