Zombies Have Conquered the iPhone App Store!

Zombies haven’t conquered the real world yet. But, they appear to have overrun Apple’s app store. The $2.99 Plants vs. Zombies game is currently the number 1 selling paid iPhone app and has an amazing 5-star customer rating with 2560 people chiming in. I recall hearing about this game when it first appeared for the Mac platform. I managed to avoid the temptation to buy it then at $19.95. But, oops, I couldn’t resist and just hit the “Buy App” button for the iPhone version. I wonder when PopCap will port Zuma over to the iPhone?

Over on the app store Top Grossing list, Plants vs. Zombies again comes out on top. But, the relatively expensive ($9.99) Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies is at number 2 with a solid 4.5 average customer rating (3111 ratings).

If you still haven’t gotten your fill of Zombie’s I recommend a different kind of mobile content: An audio book. I bought the audio book (on CDs) version of the novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War a year or two ago. Despite awful audio editing in the process of abridging the book, it is still an excellent story narrated by a series of first class (and famous) readers like Alan Alda.
