Ahead of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, YouTube revealed how users interact with soccer-related content on its platform.

Over the past year, users spent the most time watching videos related to Latin American teams. Looking at watch time in 2017, YouTube found that the five most popular national teams were Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Portugal and Mexico.

In addition, YouTube said videos containing “superstar” soccer players—including Lionel Messi, Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo—had an 80 percent increase in watch time last year, compared with the year prior. Ronaldo specifically was the top 2018 FIFA World Cup player in the U.S. and England by total watch time in 2017.

Overall, over the past two years, YouTube said the amount of time people have spent watching match recaps on its platform has “more than doubled.” Since 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, watch time for soccer highlights has increased by nine times, and watch time for soccer-related trick shots is up 50 percent.
