Excitement Grows for Magazine App Zeen.com

Over the weekend, a new venture from the co-founders of YouTube went live. Sort of.

Along with a static home page featuring the tagline “Discover & Create Beautiful Magazines,” the company shared the following tantalizing Facebook status update and tweet ahead of Amsterdam’s The Next Web conference, where the Pinterest-slash-paper.li-like App is scheduled to be officially unveiled:

Francis Bea, a writer for digitaltrends.com, notes that fusible was the first to report on this weekend’s zeen.com rumblings. He also framed some guesswork about what the site will deliver:

From what we gather, Zeen will be a service allowing users to upload third-party content onto personalized “magazines…” The [site] policy hints at its intent to use third-party content uploaded on the platform for monetization purposes, possibly like the advertising model current search engines use today…

Finally, Zeen will incorporate a browser bookmark extension, which will be called, “Zeen Bookmarklet.”

Stay tuned.
