WTOP Partners with Waze to Better Real-time Traffic Reporting

In partnership with Waze – a community-based, real-time traffic app – WTOP is its first US radio partner and will offer the station’s traffic department access to incidents in real-time beginning this week.

Users of the app enter a destination, and based on reports from other Waze users, are notified of traffic jams, police, accidents, hazards, and speed cameras and have recommended, faster, alternate routes.

“Partnering with Waze puts more resources at our disposal,” said Jim Battagliese, director of WTOP traffic operations in a release announcing the joint venture.
