A Littleton, Colo., Facebook user was mistakenly caught up in the rush to gather information on the suspect in the tragic shootings in a theater in nearby Aurora, Colo., during a premiere showing of Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises, as the Facebook user had the misfortunate of sharing the suspect’s name and being located nearby.

Mashable reported that James Holmes of Littleton posted the following status update on his Facebook page after numerous messages and friend requests intended for the suspect, also named James Holmes:

Dearest random Facebook people who keep confusing me for a mass-murderer and yet still send me Facebook requests:

I appreciate the fact that you are trying to become better-informed about the occurrences last night in Aurora, but you have been somewhat misled, in that I am not the man who did it.
