Writers Remember the East Village Other

If you’re not old enough to remember New York alternative journalism in the 1960’s and early 70’s, don’t claim to be of age, or just weren’t around the city then, that’s okay.

In celebration of the spirit of the times and an accompanying popular underground newspaper, The East Village Other (EVO), the Local East Village, a New York Times community web site run in collaboration with New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, is publishing essays by former EVO writers and editors as well as those in their sphere.
