Write On, Designers

As the comments keep accumulating over at ideasonideas regarding why “Designers Must Write,” we happened to notice a little sentence that appears above this blog roll: Use your design knowledge to write about design. And, more importantly, Make more money.

With the proliferation of design stories in the media, publications are going to be looking for more people to write about design–and they want people who know what they’re talking about. Learning how to write about the stuff you already know will not only flex some flabby creative muscles, it will make you an instant expert in your field. With “design expert” tagged onto your title, that means published articles, but also book deals, speaking engagements, being called as a witness in court cases and early morning appearances on a Couric-free “Today Show.” See? More money.
