Workplace by Facebook and Quip announced the beta-launch of a deeper integration at Dreamforce in San Francisco Tuesday.

Former Facebook chief technology officer Bret Taylor announced in June 2012 that he was leaving the social network to start a company with Kevin Gibbs, founder and tech lead of the Google App Engine and creator of Google Suggest, and Taylor and Gibbs announced the launch of Quip in July 2013.

The initial integration of Workplace by Facebook and Quip was announced at F8 in April.

Workplace by Facebook vice president Sean Ryan detailed the new features in the beta-launch at Dreamforce:

  • Linked folders and auto permission: Workplace group administrators will now be able to link Quip folders to their group. Group members can view folders in the group tab because they’ll automatically get all the folder permissions they need.
  • Easy navigation: Group members will find a list of every file from linked Quip folders in an easy-to-navigate files tab.
  • Better collaboration: These improvements will make it easier for teams collaborate, edit and work together on documents so that they can work faster and get more done.

Mike Sharkey of the Workplace by Facebook marketing team wrote in a blog post: “Workplace is a platform that gives everyone a place to work together. Quip is a modern collaboration platform where teams create and organize their work from any device. They’re tools that are helping redefine the future of the workplace. They bring teams closer together and enable people to move fast and get more done.”
