WLTW Gets New Program Director

Radio station WLTW has just named Chris Conley as their Program Director effective May 1. Conley will replace the outgoing Jim Ryan. Press release after the jump. Jim Ryan Steps Down as WLTW Program Director & Passes the Torch to Veteran AC Programmer Chris Conley New York, NY, January 23, 2008 (NYSE: CCU) - After eleven years at New York's 106.7 Lite fm, Jim Ryan has decided to leave his day to day WLTW responsibilities this Spring to start his own content consultancy. With this announcement, on the 24th anniversary of the station, veteran Adult Contemporary Programmer Chris Conley will take over the reigns of WLTW Program Director starting May 1, 2008. The announcement was made by Rob Williams, President/Market Manager Clear Channel New York, and Tom Poleman, SVP Programming. Poleman stated: "Chris Conley and Jim Ryan are widely recognized as the foremost AC programmers in the world. Chris has a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge in AC research, programming and marketing that will pay great dividends in his new role. No one is better suited than Chris to take the reigns of the legendary WLTW. Together, Chris and Jim make the ultimate AC programming dream team." Ryan will also be leaving his national responsibilities as SVP Adult Contemporary Programming for Clear Channel. He will however, remain with the company through the end of May 2008 during the transition. As WLTW station forges ahead to 2008 and beyond, Ryan will continue to work with 106.7 as a programming consultant. He started at the station in the summer 1996 when the station ranked fourth 12+. Since fall 1996, the station has consistently ranked #1 in the market. Ryan stated: "Since I joined WLTW in 1996, we've been #1 in 38 Arbitrons, and that doesn't even include our #1 showing in the current PPM. It has been an honor for me to have been a part of this brand and its phenomenal success. I look forward to taking everything I've learned in New York, as well as working with the other Clear Channel AC stations, and starting a new chapter in my career." Poleman added: "Jim Ryan's tenure as WLTW's program director is nothing short of remarkable. He took an average station and made it legendary. He's unquestionably one of the best programmers I've ever had the pleasure to work with. We're fortunate to have him continue as a consultant." Conley comes to WLTW from McVay Media Broadcasts Consultants were he served as Vice President of Adult Contemporary Programming. He also enjoyed tenure at the top rated WBEB/B101 in Philadelphia where he was Program Director for over 11 years. Conley was the original PPM Program Director for the station and under his direction WBEB was #1 in the first year of PPM ratings in Philadelphia. Prior PD experience includes AC, Top 40, Smooth Jazz and Country stations throughout the US including Denver, Boston and Pittsburgh. This past September he received the 2007 Radio & Records Program Director of the Year. Conley stated: "It's funny that we are repeating history. I succeeded Jim in Philadelphia 11 years ago, and here we go again. This time the task won't be as monumental as I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him going forward."
