Winners Announced for Building the Circle-y Park Inside Olympic Park

Wanting to cash in on the attention lingering from the Tour de France, officials in London have just announced the firms chosen to build the VeloPark, the four large buildings used to host many of the events at the 2012 Olympics. Here’s the official word straight from the source and here’s the scoop on the winners from Reuters:

The winning consortium, chosen by a panel including leading architects and Olympic track gold medallist Chris Hoy, consists of Hopkins Architects, Expedition Engineering, BDSP and Grant Associates.

“I am delighted to be announcing the design team for one of the key venues in the Olympic Park,” London Organising Committee chairman Sebastian Coe said on Thursday.

And if you’re looking for more, the AP has this bit of info on the largest of the buildings, the Velodrome, which will be the home for the cycling and track sports.
