Windows 7 Tablets for Business Only: First HP, Now Dell.

Do you remember the HP Slate 500? It was a Windows 7 based tablet that was announced by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer at the 2010 CES and was released in an extremely small limited run (under 10,000 units) aimed at business users. Engadget reports that Dell plans to launch a Windows 7 based tablet in 2011. And, like the HP Slate 500, it will target the enterprise business market.

Dell promises a 10-inch Windows 7 tablet later this year

This makes a certain amount of sense since Microsoft’s decade old Tablet PC has seen its limited success in vertical markets. But, one has to wonder if Microsoft’s hardware partners has ceded the consumer tablet market to Apple’s iPad and Android Tablets.
