Could Facebook be unveiling a new messaging system? That’s what the internet rumor mill is speculating this morning after members of the media received an invitation to attend a special press event in Monday.

The invitations show two icons of inboxes – the same icons Facebook uses in their mobile apps, which sparked the theory Mark Zuckerberg may be discussing Project Titan, which we discussed months ago here.

The press event will be held in San Francisco instead of it’s usual location in Palo Alto prior to Mark Zuckerberg speaking at the Web 2.0 Summit.

We all can attest to problems with the current messaging system. You can receive the message though email, but then have to log in to Facebook to reply (new notes remain marked as unread in your inbox – probably the reason why right now I currently have 343 “unread” messages).

Right now you also can’t attach documents in an email, and you also can’t forward a message from within Facebook.

Tell us what you wish Facebook would do with it’s messaging application? And in the case Facebook isn’t going to be talking about messages – what do you hope they unveil on Monday?
