The National Football League Players Association would like to borrow your Facebook and Twitter page updates to promote awareness of the potential upcoming lockout that could occur following this season if salary negotiations between team owners and players’ representatives remain deadlocked.

The Facebook status that the Players Association is asking to be posted reads, “Today is LET US PLAY Day. Help NFL Players and Fans Block the Lockout. Visit NFLLockout.com and sign the Petition.”

Right now, about one new posting goes up every minute on Facebook, but we expect the frequency will increase as the viral campaign spreads across the site.

Check out the email that NFLA President Kevin Mawae has circulated urging the importance of participation in this viral event. It will certainly be an interesting story to watch unfold, and we will report back in the coming days with any results.

If you’re interested in showing support, copy the aforementioned status update and post it on your profile so your friends can see it, then visit the NFL Lockout page to sign the petition. Will you post the message on your own social media accounts? And how much of an impact do you think this campaign will have?
