Every year, Americans celebrate Independence Day by scaring the bejeesus out of their pets. To most dogs, fireworks sound like armageddon. Animal shelters see a spike in lost and injured dogs around the holiday, and some critters aren’t lucky enough to make it home. Below, some tips from the Seattle Humane Society for keeping your pup safe during tonight’s festivities:
KEEP PETS INDOORS
Keep your pets in a safe, enclosed room, preferably one without windows. If you’re having guests over, consider keeping pets in a room that’s off-limits to guests, with plenty of water and food.
