Whole Foods isn’t happy with just being your source of party-friendly cucumber-dill dip and organic vegetables — now they want to be your reading material of choice too.

The supermarket chain has just inked a deal with Efrem Zimbalist III‘s Active Interest Media (Yoga Journal/Vegetarian Times/American Cowboy/Black Belt) to launch Whole Foods Market Magazine:

Designed specifically for Whole Foods Market shoppers, Whole Foods Market Magazine will feature the latest in health and wellness news, food and environmental issues and trends, a wine column, the latest in beauty and self-care products, and more. The magazine will also feature the best natural, organic and gourmet foods as well as healthy and delicious recipes.

Whole Foods Market Magazine will make the experience of shopping at Whole Foods Market come alive in print,” says David Rosenberg, regional marketing director for Whole Foods Market. “Our customers care about their health and the health of the planet, and our new magazine will directly respond to their interests and needs. Active Interest Media is the recognized leader in the health and wellness custom publishing, and we are delighted to become their creative partner.”

The mag will be debuting in the Midwest in January and in the Rocky Mountain states in March. Us oh-so-sophisticated New Yorkers will have to wait (or, y’know, just use the web).

Publishing frequency is bi-weekly.
