Less than a year after we bid farewell to that black-spectacled heroine of urbanism, nominees are being accepted for the first Jane Jacobs Medal, sponsored by the Rockefeller Foundation. According to the site, it should be someone who:
…opens our eyes to new ways of seeing and understanding our city
…challenges traditional assumptions and conventional thinking
…generates a creative use of neighborhood knowledge to advance equity and diversity
Each year, two people will receive medals and $200,000.
