WhatsApp Users Embraced Video Calls, So the Button Is Now Easier to Access

Users place more than 55 million video calls daily, totaling 340 million-plus minutes

WhatsApp updated the user interface in its Android application to put its video calling button in prime real estate, front and center.

The Facebook-owned messaging application said in an email to Social Pro Daily that since video calling was launched last November, the feature has taken off, with more than 340 million video calling minutes per day and users placing more than 55 million video calls each day.

WhatsApp said in a blog post when it launched video calling last November:

We’re introducing this feature because we know that sometimes voice and text just aren’t enough.
