WhatsApp reached a big milestone, revealing Wednesday that it now has 2 billion users globally.

The Facebook-owned messaging application reached the 1 billion mark in February 2016 and surpassed 1.5 billion in January 2018.

WhatsApp also rolled out a new privacy website, with information on end-to-end encryption, two-factor authentication and other privacy features and settings available to users.

WhatsApp said in a blog post, “Private conversations that once were only possible face-to-face can now take place across great distances through instant chats and video calling. There are so many significant and special moments that take place over WhatsApp, and we are humbled and honored to reach this milestone.”
