WhatsApp: Here’s How to Turn on Two-Step Verification

Add extra security to your account

Did you know WhatsApp allows you to turn on two-step verification in order to add extra security to your account? When this feature is turned on, you’ll need to enter a PIN each time you register your phone number with WhatsApp in the future. Our guide will show you how to turn on two-step verification on your account.

Step 1: Tap “Settings” in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Step 2: Tap “Account.”

Step 3: Tap “Two-Step Verification.”

Step 4: Tap “Enable.”

Step 5: Type a six-digit PIN code that you’ll be able to remember. You’ll be asked to enter this code any time you register your phone number with WhatsApp in the future. When you type the final digit, you should be automatically taken to the next screen. If not, tap “Next” in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 6: Type your PIN again to confirm it. When you type the last digit, you should be automatically taken to the next screen. If not, tap “Next” in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 7: Type your email address. This will be used to reset your PIN if you ever forget it. You can also tap “Skip” if you don’t want to enter your email address. Note: If you tap “Skip,” you’ll need to tap “Skip Email” on a menu that pops up to confirm your decision (see the second image below).

Step 8: Tap “Next” in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 9: If you chose to enter your email address, type it again to confirm it.

Step 10: Tap “Done” in the top-right corner of the screen.
