Share files with others

Did you know that WhatsApp allows you to send documents (like text files and PDFs) to other users in a chat? Our guide will show you how this works.

Note: These screenshots were captured in the WhatsApp application on iOS. Also note, this process is slightly different on iOS and Android.

Step 1: Tap the chat you wish to send a document in.

Step 2: On iOS, tap the “+” in the bottom-left corner of the screen. On Android, tap the paper clip icon at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3: Tap “Document.”

Step 4: On iOS, you’ll be shown a list of your recent documents. Tap one to select it. You can also tap browse at the bottom of the screen to browse more files, or tap the search bar at the top of the screen to search for a document manually.

On Android, you’ll be shown a list of documents. Tap one to select it. You can also tap “Browse other docs…” at the top of the screen to browse more files, or tap the magnifying glass in the top-right corner of the screen to search for a document manually.

Step 5: On iOS, tap “Send” in the top-right corner of the screen to send the document you’ve selected. On Android, tap “Send” on the window that appears in the center of the screen to send the document.
