Above, Mona Mangan, executive director of Writers Guild of America, East, addresses a NYC crowd recently at “a rally to call attention to their need for a new contract,” according to a press release. “WGAE members urged ABC to return to the bargaining table and protested the loss of 17 positions in Washington DC this week; NABET called for ABC to give them a fair contract they return to the table next week. …The WGA-ABC national agreement covers newswriters, editors, desk assistants/ production assistants, graphic artists, and researchers in New York and Washington, D.C. The agreement expired on January 31, 2005. Approximately 250 people are covered under this contract. The two sides last met on in late last year — ABC has refused to return to the bargaining table with the WGAE.”
