It’s a Long Way from Westchester to Costa Rica

One of the journalists to envy this fall is Westchester magazine associate editor Katie O’Donnell. Thanks to the affluence of her publication’s readership (they travel extensively; many own second homes), she got the plum recent assignment of visiting the Anayama yoga retreat in Montezuma, Costa Rica.

This beats feverish Internet research, any day. From her piece:

Back just in time for the candlelit evening yoga session, we were greeted first with thick, fresh-made mango-and-coconut smoothies.

As the sun set over the ocean, we embarked on some slower twists, bends and restful poses. The waves stirred softly in chorus with the low hum of indigenous insects and the intermittent song of howler monkeys in the distance. Letting it all go now in the dark, I slipped into a moment of deep, serene meditation — one I wish I could have stayed in the entire week to return to again and again.

Anamaya has received separate coverage this fall in Forbes and Condé Nast Traveler, but with one *big* difference. As the good folks at the exotic resort put it in the case of the latter:

This is the second time Forbes included Anamaya in its round-up of travel recommendations. We’re hoping that the writer, Ann Abel, will visit Anamaya personally and be inspired to write a feature article at some point.
