Weekly Twitter Round Up: What You Might’ve Missed

Celebrities got more than their fair share of Twitter coverage this week, with royal weddings, baby bumps, and unlikely exchanges taking center stage. Here's what you might've missed this week in Twitter news: A Royal Tweet We're not sure how you could have missed this one, as it's been on every news broadcast, in every newspaper, and on every news blog this week: Prince William finally proposed to long-time girlfriend Kate Middleton. And he announced it on Twitter. As far as reports go, the first public announcement of their engagement was tweeted from the royal @clarencehouse account. Web 2.0 Summit is a Wrap With Twitter co-founder Ev Williams as the final speaker at this week's Web 2.0 Summit, rumors were flying about all the huge announcements he might make. Well, it wasn't quite that exciting. The Summit revealed that Twitter would partner with Gnip to provide access to tweets for analytics purposes, a possible Klout-like reputation score for Twitter users, and that financially, the company was stable. Babies, Babies, Everywhere Twitter is often used by celebrities to announce big moments in their lives, and this week it seemed especially ripe for first notifications of that tell-tale baby bump. At least two famous women reported their pregnancies on Twitter this week: fashionista Rachel Zoe, pop star Pink, and singer Alanis Morissette showed off her baby bump, too. Congrats, soon-to-be mommies. Strange Bedfellows... Senator John McCain and infamous Jersey Shore-er Snookie have apparently become best buds - on Twitter. McCain reportedly sent Snookie a birthday tweet earlier this week, to which Snookie replied "Thabnk you Johnny! :) xox". This odd love affair has been going on for a few months, apparently ignited over a Twitter exchange about taxing tanning beds. Angry Bedfellows And lastly, Stephen Fry, world-famous British actor and comedian, has got himself into a bit of a row with a writer on Twitter, publicly calling him a "cynical ignorant f*****" before removing the tweet.
