Jo-Ann Armao "intends to take a sabbatical and go back to school for a time to learn more about the changing world around us before returning to the newsroom," Post execs explained in an memo to staff Friday. In one of those deliciously understated paragraphs into which we can read so much, they went on say, "Jo-Ann has kindly given us time to select her successor soon enough to provide for a seamless transition. This decision obviously will be very important for the future of the paper at a challenging time. So, while we expect strong candidates to come forward, we welcome suggestions and advice from all of you." By the way, we hear she's not the only senior level Post editor preparing an exit strategy... Similarly, Harry Jaffe's weekly column focuses on the mourning going on at ABC News, which suffered some back-to-back blows recently with Ted Koppel and Peter Jennings, and offers some intriguing hints about a future anchor direction: Jake Tapper. What does Jaffe know that none of the rest of us do? The Post offered some insight yesterday into what your satellite radio choice means about you. Bob Garfield at On the Media thinks that the media world is about to descend into chaos. Lastly, we had several readers point out to us the seeming disconnect between a Washington Times editorial that says this while one of its key staffers has this controversy in his past.
