World Wrestling Entertainment climbed into the Facebook Watch ring with an exclusive weekly series for the social network’s original video platform.
WWE has more than 825 million followers worldwide across its social properties, including nearly 500 million likes on its Facebook pages, with more than 38.6 million alone on the main WWE page.
WWE Mixed Match Challenge will livestream Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET starting Jan. 16, and the 12-week series will feature WWE Superstars from the wrestling organization’s WWE Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live rosters competing in a single-elimination tag-team tournament.
After months of rumors and speculation, Facebook launched original video tab Watch in August, with the goal of becoming a destination for professional, higher-quality, long-form video content. Launch partners included NASA, Mashable, Quartz, Hearst, Major League Soccer and McClatchy.
Partners in Facebook Watch earn 55 percent of revenue from Ad Breaks, while the social network keeps 45 percent.
The winner will receive $100,000 from WWE to support the charity of their choice.
WWE said each episode will run 20 minutes, and production will be tailored for mobile devices and increased social interaction, with fans on Facebook engaging with Superstars during the show and having input on match-ups and conditions on those matches.
In addition, storylines from WWE Mixed Match Challenge will live on between episodes across WWE’s various Facebook pages, through short-form videos and social content.
Teams will be announced starting Jan. 4 following fan voting on Facebook.
