Want to Win a Free Trip to San Fran?

The Endocrine Society’s Award for Excellence in Science and Medical Journalism is up for grabs. They’ve already begun accepting nominations. The deadline is next week. The winner will receive a trip to cover The Endocrine Society’s annual meeting in San Francisco this June.

What will you get? Attending the meeting offers journalists the opportunity to learn about the latest research in fields as diverse as obesity, endocrine disruptors, diabetes, growth hormones, sex steroids and thyroid cancer.

Past winners have included writers for Newsweek, More Magazine and Science News.   

Stipulations, who can apply and how to apply? The award recognizes “outstanding reporting that enhances public understanding of health issues pertaining to the field of endocrinology.” The award is open to all credentialed journalists in print (both “hard” and electronic) or broadcast. Candidates can self-nominate or be nominated by someone else. Only one nomination is permitted for each nominee. Submissions can include any work first published between March 5, 2012 and February 29, 2013. According to a release, “weight will be given to entries that contribute to the public understanding of endocrinology and demonstrate thorough research, accurate reporting and originality.”
